I have a corduroy jacket that smells smock. There are no stains on it, it just smells smock really badly.
According to the care instructions it cannot be washed, just dry cleaned.
But wouldn’t dry cleaning destroy it? And would dry cleaning remove smock from my jacket? Wouldn’t it still smell?
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

If by “smock” you mean “smoke,” the dry cleaning should get rid of it. Or you could hang the jacket outside on a breezy, sunny day. Dry cleaning will not destroy the jacket.
What’s smock? If the instructions say dry-clean only, that’s what you’re supposed to do. If it’s just a regular corduroy jacket with no extra doo-dads on it, you could probably safely hand-wash it in the sink using regular detergent and cool water. Towel dry and drape it to finish drying.
Corduroy can be gently washed with a gentle detergent. Put it in the dryer for about 10 minuets and remove it, hang to finish drying.
